It all began in July 1977. Alan and Joy Bates purchased their first home, a block of land which would later become Lovejoy Park.

Alan set out on the ambitious task of building a beautiful home overlooking some of the oldest farms in Gembrook. As Alan's imagination came alive in the form of a hardwood frame, nail by nail, Joy turned her attention to the garden. A Claret Ash was planted, followed by a grapefruit, and come spring, the sweet smell of flowers floated through the air as fields of Azalea, Camellia, Rhododendron, Wisteria and Jasmine all sprung to life. All of the original gardens still stand tall with many additions having been made over the years, the latest a series of veggie patches in the original tin tanks, feijoa hedge, plum, blueberry, lemon, lime, peach and all of the herbs you could ever need.

Joy would say "the road to friends is paved with flowers" and it could not be more true as you wander through the beautiful gardens. Lovejoy Park has a special way of bringing people together. Alan and Joy spent many happy years creating family memories in the home, with an addition of a second bedroom, laundry (and twin tub!), garage, chook shed and studio as the family grew. There were always 2 chairs in the front lounge room, where they would spend their time together by the cosy fire.

Joy loved and cherished her garden every minute right up until passing on in the late 90's after a full life with Alan by her side. Alan crowned the property "Lovejoy Park" in memory of his beautiful wife.

Up until 2016, the 2 chairs still sat in the lounge room by the fire.

There is something truly special and unique about Lovejoy Park where she pulls everybody in and celebrates with each and every person. Lovejoy Park in all her glory, welcomes you home. After all, as Joy would say, the road to friends is paved with flowers...

To find out how the story will unfold come to the open or request a private inspection.
