>>> ARRIVAL
Immediately upon arriving at Avenue, you will be taken back by the striking façade. Each townhome is framed by the continuous zinc standing seam, alongside charred timber and feature brick to the balconies. Avenue presents these traditional materials in a contemporary way to provide a timeless design.
Longevity was critical when choosing these materials. Just like the historic zinc roofs of Paris, or the ancient Japanese technic of charring timber to improve weatherability, Avenue is built to be inspired and to last. It is the creative success of design partner, ADDARC.
Security and privacy played pivotal roles in the conceptualisation of Avenue. On arrival the high fence leads to a secluded entry nook away from the street. As guests are buzzed through, they are greeted by the award-winning Jack Merlo landscape. A bay leaf hedge provides added privacy to the premium-grade palisade fence while the canopy of the Japanese Elm creates a bold splash of colour as its leaves turn earthy red in Autumn.
>>> GROUND
The entry provides a statement for the grandeur awaiting inside. Deep metal shrouds extrude beyond the door that opens to 3m high ceilings. Along the one side, are vertical square-cut grooved timber panels with a 2-pac finish and concealed doors to the basement staircase and separately to the lift and additional storage. Along the other side is a multipurpose room with by-direction full height windows opening to the front courtyard. An area suited as a fourth bedroom, home office, dining room or retreat.
Unique elements extend into the kitchen. Where there is normally an overhead rangehood, there is continuous stone splashback all the way to the 3m ceiling. This design is achieved by adopting the Miele downdraft telescopic exhausted. With a push of a button the exhaust unit rises up from the marble bench, pauses for dramatic effect, then lights up the cooking area.
The island bench has stone waterfall on three sides with a Miele fully integrated dishwasher, plus oven and microwave. Adding warmth to the kitchen is the Evenex timber laminate concealing the cupboards and the separately integrated Miele fridge and freezer.
The ground floor is finished with timber flooring that contains light grey elements that connect the palette of the stone and timber. The living area opens out to the rear courtyard with flush, zero-threshold, full-height openable windows onto a layered landscape area crowned with a white crepe myrtle.
The shadow play design philosophy from the exterior vertical seams is brought inside with P50 skirting throughout and vertical grooved panelling connecting design from inside to out.
>>> LEVEL 1
The bedrooms on Level 1 are accessed by either the lift of the stairs. On arrival to the master bedroom, the space opens out to a soaring 4.4m high cathedral ceiling, capturing the angles of the zinc pitched roof which wraps around the underside of the balcony soffit. Likewise, the charred timber turns inward to continue to the vertical lines of the timber boards onto the balcony. These lines continue into the bedroom with the feature wall finished with 2-pac square-grooved panels with concealed doors to the ensuite and walk-in-robe. Full height gabled windows complete the sunset view over Brighton.
The second and third bedrooms each have walk-in-robes and the main bathroom is fitted with a bath and shower.
>>> BASEMENT
The private basement garage fits three full-sized vehicles plus additional room for a workshop or storage, along with a large laundry. All gardens are watered via the rainwater collection tanks. Each townhome has its own solar-power system and internet is delivered via the gold-standard in NBN infrastructure; fibre-to-the-premises. Avenue has private waste collection via the basement, so there is no need to worry about bins.
>>> MOVE IN FEB 2021
The ‘Avenue by Skelton’ townhomes will be completed in February 2021. Private inspection outside of trade hours can be arranged by appointment. Unlike many projects delivered under a ‘design and construct’ agreement with the builder, Avenue has been delivered on construct only terms – meaning the developer is the only decision maker and there is no compromise or substitution on quality.
